What is a life cycle of a butterfly?

Do you know every butterfly needs to make a chrysalis because it needs to move to the next stage? It needs to move on to the next stage or else it won't turn into a butterfly. So once it turns into a caterpillar it needs to make a chrysalis. That way it can turn into a butterfly. That is part of the life cycle of a butterfly.
This is a diagram of the butterfly life cycle stages. Butterflies go through four stages. The four stages are part of the metamorphosis of a butterfly. Stage one is an egg. Stage two is a larva or caterpillar. Stage three is a chrysalis. Stage four is a butterfly.
This is a video of a monarch butterfly going through a metamorphosis.
