What is a butterfly?
The word Lepidoptera means
scale wings in Greek. A butterfly might go on a flower and eat the nectar
with their tongue. They have a tongue that's like a little tube that the
nectar goes into. The butterfly tongue is called proboscis. The tongue is a hollow tube, like a straw.
There are more than 15,000 butterflies in the world! The Painted Lady is one of the most widespread butterfly in the world! Butterflies might die
after mating. And
butterflies are closely related to
moths. The moth’s wings are a lot different from butterflies. The butterfly wings
are colorful. Moths don’t have that much color.
